About Char Dham Yatra
The Char Dham Yatra refers to the pilgrimage to four sacred Hindu shrines nestled in the Himalayas of Uttarakhand: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. These destinations are considered among the holiest in Hinduism, and visiting them is believed to bring salvation (moksha). Every Hindu aspires to undertake this divine journey at least once in a lifetime.
🇮🇳 Tentative 11-Day Char Dham Yatra Itinerary 🏔️
Day 1: Haridwar to Barkot
🚗 Arrive in Haridwar/Rishikesh/Dehradun; transfer to Barkot (approx. 6 hrs).
🛎️ Check in at the hotel and enjoy the day at leisure.
🏨 Overnight stay in Barkot.
Day 2: Barkot – Yamunotri Darshan – Barkot
🏞️ Drive to Janki Chatti (Yamunotri trek base).
🙏 Trek (6 km) to Yamunotri Temple (pony/doli optional, self-paid).
💧 Take a holy dip in Surya Kund and perform Darshan & Pooja.
🚗 Return to Janki Chatti and drive back to Barkot.
🏨 Overnight stay in Barkot.
Day 3: Barkot to Uttarkashi
🚗 Drive to Uttarkashi (approx. 4 hrs).
🛎️ Check in and relax.
🕉️ Visit the ancient Vishwanath Temple in the evening.
🏨 Overnight stay in Uttarkashi.
Day 4: Uttarkashi – Gangotri Darshan – Uttarkashi
🏞️ Scenic drive to Gangotri (Harsil Valley views en route).
🙏 Visit Gangotri Mata Temple and perform pooja.
🚗 Return to Uttarkashi.
🏨 Overnight stay in Uttarkashi.
Day 5: Uttarkashi to Sitapur/Phata/Guptkashi
🚌 Drive toward Sitapur, Phata, or Guptkashi (long journey, approx. 9 hrs).
🛎️ Check in to your hotel upon arrival.
🏨 Overnight stay in Sitapur/Phata/Guptkashi.
Day 6: Kedarnath Trek – Stay in Kedarnath
🚶 Drive to Sonprayag, take local transport to Gaurikund.
🏔️ Begin 12 km trek to Kedarnath (Pony/Doli/Helicopter services available at extra cost).
🙏 Perform Darshan & Pooja at Shri Kedarnath Temple.
⛺ Overnight stay at Kedarnath (Hotel or GMVN Dormitory).
Day 7: Kedarnath to Sitapur/Phata/Guptkashi
⛰️ Trek back (12 km) to Gaurikund early morning.
🚗 Take shared cab to Sonprayag and proceed to your hotel.
🏨 Overnight stay in Sitapur/Phata/Guptkashi.
Day 8: Sitapur/Phata/Guptkashi to Pipalkoti/Joshimath
🚗 Drive toward Pipalkoti or Joshimath (approx. 8–9 hrs).
🥾 Optional 3.5 km trek to Tungnath Temple en route.
🏨 Overnight stay in Pipalkoti/Joshimath.
Day 9: Badrinath Day Excursion
🙏 Early morning drive for Darshan at Badrinath Temple (Lord Vishnu).
♨️ Take a holy dip in Tapt Kund.
🏘️ Explore nearby Mana Village, Vyas Gufa, Mata Murti Temple, and the origin of the Saraswati River.
🏨 Return for overnight stay in Pipalkoti or Rudraprayag.
Day 10: Pipalkoti/Joshimath to Haridwar
🚗 Begin your return journey to Haridwar (approx. 6 hrs).
🛎️ Check in at the hotel or proceed for drop-off at Haridwar, Rishikesh, or Dehradun.
🏨 Overnight stay in Haridwar (optional).
Day 11: Departure
